CMGP TRAINING WORKSHOP PART II: Road to Functional Internal Audit Office

As part of the continuing efforts of the Department of Interior and Local Government and Department of Budget and Management in the Implementation of Internal Audit Unit and Internal Control System of Provincial Local Government Units, a training-workshop entitled “Follow Through: Training-Workshop on the Implementation of Internal Audit for Provinces under the CMGP Program” was conducted last November 6-10, 2017 at Linden Suites, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. This is the second part of the earlier training-workshop held in Tagaytay City last March 27-31 of the same year under the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces for Road Repair, Rehabilitations, and Improvement.

The training-workshop was conducted by various DBM trainers who are all equally competent in discussing the subject matters. Total of 49 participants coming from 16 provinces: Aklan, Albay, Antique, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Capiz, Catanduanes, Guimaras, Iloilo, Masbate, Negros Occidental, North Cotabato, Sarangani, Sorsogon, South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat attended the training-workshop with most of them under the Internal Audit Office and Provincial Engineer’s Office. Camarines Sur as one of the participants, sent 4 representatives from the Provincial Internal Audit Office and 1 representative from Provincial Engineer’s Office.

The said training gave emphasis on the implementation of the Local Government Internal Audit Unit and its importance as one of the regulatory requirement under the Department of Interior And Local Government-Department Of Budget And Management Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2017 – 2 dated April 26, 2017 on Guidelines for the implementation of the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces for Road Repair, Rehabilitation and Improvement (CMGP).

Furthermore, in addition to the role of Internal Auditors in the Local Government Units, Audit Planning and Audit Processes were also introduced, to enlighten and guide the participants in their functions as Internal Auditors.

Overall, the training-workshop was an informative and productive event, it also created a network which linked internal auditors from different provinces enabling them to communicate progress and hindrances, if any, which may aid those who are in need when it comes to setting up and improvement of internal audit in their respective agencies.
